　　中国国际电视台（CGTN，中国环球电视网）昨天报道了龙年生肖邮票的发布仪式。它一如既往把“龙年”译为 Year of the Loong，还把龙年邮票译为 Loong stamps，播音员也字正腔圆地读出了 loong。

Year of the Loong: Chinese zodiac stamp series released in Beijing

Collecting Chinese zodiac stamps has been a New Year tradition for over four decades. For 2024, a special series featuring the Loong, better known n the English-speaking world as the iconic Chinese dragon, is exciting collectors. The stamps were released Friday in Beijing. Zhang Siran has more.

The Loong is a symbol of the Chinese people, and 2024 marks its year on the Chinese zodiac. It's also known as a symbol of strength and nobility, and it's at the center of a new set of stamps released by China Post aimed at capturing the creature's prosperity and vigor.

LIU QI Director of Artwork Editing, Postal Business Department, China Post "We collected ideas and designs from the public for the first time. Finally, we chose the design inspired by the Wall of Nine Dragons from the Forbidden City. It's a five-clawed golden dragon. The rising gesture symbolizes its vigorous spirit. Our second stamp is a double dragon pattern. The two characters in the middle are Xiang Rui, wishing for auspiciousness in the New Year. The current circulation of these stamps is less than 30 million."

ZHANG SIRAN Beijing "The commemorative set features a souvenir sheet issued on the Chinese Mainland, and in the special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macau, marking the first collaboration of its kind on Chinese Zodiac-themed stamps. The iconic Loong, featured on the stamps, represents the shared roots of all Chinese people."

During the ceremony, Zhang Mingmin, a beloved singer from China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, shared his understanding of the culture surrounding the Loong.

LIU QI Director of Artwork Editing, Postal Business Department, China Post "The souvenir sheet of Loong stamps is our very first collaboration in releasing Zodiac-themed stamps with postal departments in the Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions. We adopted imperforated stamps for the first time. The code, MHKM-1, is the acronym of three regions, the Mainland, Hong Kong and Macao. We cherish our shared bloodline, and will continue this series with more jointly released stamps."

Stamp lovers can buy and collect the Loong series in both China and overseas, as they serve as a small reminder to honor and respect the deep cultural roots of Chinese people.
