资料：美国总统布什在中国演讲时音译“大国”为 da guo

　　2002年，美国总统布什访问中国时在清华大学发表演讲。他在发言中提到中国正在成为一个大国时，直接音译了“大国”这个词。

　　他说：“My nation offers you our respect and our friendship. Six years from now, athletes from America and around the world will come to your country for the Olympic games. And I'm confident they will find a China that is becoming a da guo, a leading nation, at peace with its people and at peace with the world. ”

　　布什音译“大国”一词，可能是因为他（或他的撰稿人）认识到或希望中国宣布想成为的“大国”不是 Superpower 那样的超级军事大国，而是一个发达的大国家、但又不威胁其他人，所以在 da guo 后面有这样的句子：a leading nation, at peace with its people and at peace with the world.（一个先进的国家，与民同乐，与世无争。）
